It’s finally here! Elon Musk revealed Tesla’s long-awaited pickup truck to the public and…whoa. It has been met with mixed reviews, to say the least. But whether you love it or you hate it, Tesla’s “Cybertruck” has arrived and it is a game changer.
Unconventional.
That is the first word that comes to mind when I look at the design of the Cybertruck. It is not your average looking pickup truck. Similar to the Hummer H2’s debut, Cybertruck is breaking the mold and shaking up that industry. In addition to being an all-electric pickup truck, its futuristic design is bringing consumers into the future.
Some people say it looks ugly, and cannot get pass all of the sharp angles on the truck. But to my own surprise, I’m actually okay with its appearance. To be fair, I do not find pickup trucks in general to be very aesthetically pleasing or easy to look at. They are big, aggressive vehicles by nature, so I’m harder to disappoint. Furthermore, lately I’ve been feeling like cars (of all types, including pickup trucks) are starting to look the same so I’m open to new designs that steps outside the box.
But let’s put the design aspect to the side for a moment. No matter what you think of the car’s aesthetics, its functionality cannot be denied. If you think about why people buy pickup trucks, Tesla has checked all of those boxes and some.
Strong and durable are the main requirements for pickup truck owners, and Tesla’s Cybertruck has set a new standard for that criteria. It has an ultra-hard 30X stainless steel structure, armored glass, towing capacity of over 14,000 pounds, up to 500 miles of range, and adaptive air suspension. On top of all of that, it has performance better than most sports cars with an acceleration of 0-60mph in 2.9 seconds!
Oh! And Tesla has the audacity to start pricing at $39,900 with only a $100 deposit.
Cybertruck definitely is not for everyone. However, with its release, Tesla has made a few things crystal clear to everyone:
- Tesla is reaching an incredible pricing point
- Electric vehicles are only getting better, especially Tesla (see 500 mile battery range)
- Pickup trucks are never going to be the same
- There is an EV for every lifestyle
- Car design is changing
Change is not always easy to accept but it is not an inherently bad thing, and it can even be beneficial. Cybertruck’s design, specifications, and features are proof of this ideology. Nevertheless, there are many people who had never heard of Tesla, but now they know about Cybertruck. Whether or not they like it, or even buy one, doesn’t matter because electric vehicles are on their radar and that can only be advantageous to society.
